Veronica is a dynamic performer with a remarkable ability to infuse dance into everyday life. Whether instructing, performing, or simply being herself, she consistently mesmerizes her audience. Gifted in choreography across various styles and settings, Veronica describes her creative process:
"I see people and shapes that can be crafted into a story; I hear music and visualize dance steps forming in my mind—that's how my passion for choreography ignites and I create a rhythm within myself."
Creative Executive Director
- Veronica Elaine Vasquez
Despite facing childhood health challenges, Veronica's dedication to dance remained unwavering. She trained extensively with various dance studios, performing arts-based churches, and performing arts magnet schools. Her journey took her to CSU East Bay, where she was a member of the Dance Ensemble from her freshman year. At just 16 years old, she began teaching dance for the City of San Jose Parks and Recreation, and by age 19, she founded her own studio, Veronica’s Art of Dance. There, she had the chance to choreograph, teach, and develop her own dance programs.
Having dealt with mental health challenges and learning differences, including anxiety and sensory processing issues, Veronica understands the importance of having the right tools for emotional growth.
As a highly sensitive person (HSP), she struggled to find resources that resonated with her unique experiences. This inspired her to create the SEL Dance Method, designed to address these specific needs and help individuals who navigate the world differently find healing and personal development through dance.
As a professional dancer, choreographer, and teaching artist, Veronica's experiences have molded her into a versatile instructor deeply committed to empowering her students. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes individuality and character development over professional dance techniques, with a specific focus on energy work.
Veronica has collaborated with numerous performing arts organizations in the Bay Area to expand dance education and awareness. These include the School of Arts and Culture, Starting Arts, Opera Cultura, and the Audacity Performing Arts Project, among others.
Her rich experience is further complemented by multiple fitness certifications and a background in business management. Veronica has also spoken about the importance of diversity in dance education at conferences such as Dance Teacher Summit and Dance Teacher Expo, and has actively participated in various dance conferences over the years.
In 2017, Veronica founded JMM Dance Co., a testament to her entrepreneurial drive and commitment to spreading the joy of dance. Under her leadership, JMM Dance Co. has emerged as a symbol of inclusivity and creativity within the dance community.
